Summary

Powerlink is seeking an Electrical Estimator who will be responsible for coordinating the bidding process, bid accuracy, assist with project management and technical compliance.

Candidate will also analyze electrical design, specification, proposals and subcontractor quotes. This will be a full-time position for the right individual that is highly motivated, a self-starter and has strong computer literacy and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience estimating projects including projects such as large commercial, industrial, and hospital; design build experience preferred
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications in order to conduct detailed quality take-offs and costing and determine scope of work
  • Analyzes projects for value engineering options while taking into account specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and
  • Identifies any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid
  • Identifies strategies to create bid
  • Understanding of NEC codes
  • Responsible for estimates, from take-offs to inputting data
  • Identify qualified suppliers and/or subcontractors and solicit quotes
  • Review plans and specs for quote accuracy
  • Review final bids for accuracy, ensure all items have been included
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with Trimble Accubid estimating software a plus
  • Ability to value engineer projects
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs
  • Develop bid package while following company guidelines
  • Monitor proposed estimates versus actual cost
  • Review and recommend best design options based on cost and quality.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and subcontractors for estimating, scheduling, and resolving issues
  • Develop written proposals for clients
  • Develop estimates in Support of Change Order Negotiations
  • Reviews and evaluates bid documents to determine scope of work and profitability for the
  • Anticipates potential problems; is proactive and takes action before potential problems become real
  • Prepares "RFI" questions to resolve conflicts and
  • Requests material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with vendors.
  • Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter for each project.
  • Attend estimating/sales meetings, and project meetings to discuss bid status, and present/solve problems.
  • Conduct site visits/walk through to ensure that field conditions have been observed which may affect construction, may impact the prospective bid, and/or may impact the pre-construction designs and the build services.
  • Keeps Company management, project management, clients, general contractors, and all others involved in projects current on bid progress.
  • Is a team player a positive, well-organized, proactive force to support profit and growth of the company.
  • Is courteous and cordial to our customers.
  • Ensures that the Company's best interests are represented, including profitability and cost control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction or Engineering or equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience
  • Possession of electrical knowledge, the National Electrical Code, permitting processes, and union and non-union contracts
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience of electrical estimating high and medium voltage commercial and industrial work
  • Skilled in estimating techniques, cost control, and scheduling
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, purchase orders, and contracts
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read, understand, and construct project schedules
