Performs a variety of task, such as collecting and sorting soiled linen, loading and inloading machines, and folding clean linens.  They are also responsible for counting the linen processed each day and for making proper deliveries to the unit.  Laundry workers clean and sanitize their work area daily including machines, work tables and soring areas.

The ability to follow instructions.

The ability to prioritize work assignements in order to complete task in a timley manner.

The abbility to bend and sort soiled linen a miniumum of 2 hours a day.

The ability to lift 20-30 pound bags of solied line to the washer for loading a minimum of 40 times a day.

The ability to lift bundles of clean linen to a delivery cart for delivery to units a minimum of 15 times a day.

The ability to push 50 pound linen hamper safely in and out of elevator and down hallways.

The ability to bend at the knees, waist and neck at least 50 times a day to allow the sorting and/or folding of linens.

Must be able to understand basic infection control procedures.

The ability to handle and mix chemicles safely and properly.

Must be able to respond to the paging system in the appropriate manner.

The ability to function with minimal supervision.

Must have Knowledge of all department equiptment.

must be able to work computer operated washer and dryers, and understand how these machines function.

Must be able to deal with patients in their rooms and inderstand that the laundry worker is handling the patients personal possesions.

The ability to recognize and report any maintenance problems.

The ability to deal with family members and other staff members in a professional and courteous manner.

Performs all duties as assigned.

Stands, walks and bends most of the day.  Works in clean, well lighted and well ventilated laundry areas.  must be able to interact with people in other units.  Must be cautious while working to avoid cuts, sprains, or other injuries.  Exhibiut proper caution and skill when floors are wet or slippery.  Exposure to sharp objects and hazardous materials.  Involves pushing and pulling, carrying weight up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending and reaching from floor to waist height and from waist to above their head.
